About me

My name is Inioluwa Lomuwagun, and I am currently pursuing a diploma in Early Childhood Education at Humber College. My hands-on experience includes volunteering at the Chalk Farm Community Centre, where I cared for toddlers, as well as working with the YMCA and serving as a summer camp counsellor at Belka Summer Camp. My journey into early childhood education began long before I entered a classroom. Growing up, I was naturally drawn to younger cousins, nieces, nephews, and family friends’ children. At the time, I didn’t fully understand the significance of those experiences, but I now recognize how their trust, curiosity, and openness shaped my worldview. Being around children taught me patience, compassion, and the importance of being present.

I love working with children because it allows me to see the world through their eyes—their wonder, excitement, and endless questions. They bring joy, positivity, laughter, and imagination into every space they occupy. Over time, I realized that working with children is more than a responsibility; it is an opportunity to nurture confidence, identity, and belonging. For me, early childhood education is about contributing to something greater than myself—helping young children feel seen, valued, and understood in environments designed for growth. My passion for early learning deepened when I recognized how transformative the early years are and how caring, dedicated adults can profoundly shape the course of a child’s life.

Land Acknowledgement

I would like to acknowledge the land on which I am currently residing is a place where the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nations have historically lived for centuries.  I want to take this opportunity to respect and honor the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wandat communities for sharing this land, knowledge, and gifts of the land that we enjoy because of the treaties that we signed over 200 years ago that enabled my presence to be here through Treaty 13A, Treaty 22, and Treaty 23. Moreover, I am keenly aware that I am honored to be standing side by side as allies to our Indigenous family towards truth and reconciliation through acknowledging the strong bond that exists between them and the land.
